A 29-year old businesswoman named Shiryl Saturnino had died while undergoing liposuction and enhancement of a few body parts at the Icon Clinic in Mandaluyong City.
According to the initial investigation, the businesswoman arrived at the clinic at around 5 p.m. with a relative on Saturday. The doctors, Jovito Mendiola and Samuel Eric Yapjuangco performed the cosmetic surgeries until 2:40 a.m. on Sunday but they realized that Shiryl's heart had already stopped beating. The doctors tried to revive her but to no avail.

Authorities are waiting for autopsy results to see whether the doctors were responsible for Shiryl's death. According to Chief Superintendent Romulo Sapitula: “We should determine whether there is negligence during the operation and file necessary charges.”
